Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute

Maria Voukenas joined the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in October 2009 as HR Manager where she transformed the department into a true HR strategic business partner. She is now the Head, Human Resources where she is responsible for all Human Resources, learning & development, immigration, payroll, recruitment, industrial relations, performance management and remuneration functions for the Institute. 

Previously, Maria was at Weight Watchers Australasia and Woollahra Municipal Council in various HR roles. She commenced her HR career at Ticketek and was an instrumental player in the recruitment of all the box office staff at the Sydney Olympics 2000.  

She gained her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Industrial Relations from UNSW, has her Certificate IV in Training and Assessing and is an accredited practitioner of both the Myer Briggs Type Indicator and the Strengthscope tools.  She is also a Certified Professional Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute (CAHRI) and the Australian Institute for Training and Development.
