Sonya is the founder of SL Human Resources Consulting. She received her Human Resources Degree from Deakin University and completed her Teaching Degree with Monash University and recently obtained her MBA, providing opportunities to work and study abroad in Europe and Asia. Now with 30 years real world practical Human Resources Management and leadership experience.
Sonya has recruited thousands of people and has a talent for getting the right people on the bus in the right seats. She has created positive, inclusive workplace cultures in Telecommunications, Government, Pharmaceutical, Water Utilities, FMCG and more recently Mining and Construction for Sullair (Hitachi Group Company) where she achieved an innovation award in 2020 for solving society’s problems for social connectedness during the Pandemic.
In 2020 Sonya started her own business to spread her wings and pursue her passion for consulting partnering with businesses who are aligned with her values, people, planet and profit and pursuit of the circular economy. She now helps companies develop their human resources, achieve cultural and strategic alignment and high performance. Sonya has a passion for health and wellbeing and appears on Runnez App as their resident nutritionist and runner. Sonya competes actively in the 2XU Triathlon Series and Marathon Running for over 20 years – Completing New York, Berlin and Melbourne Marathons. Sonya is a self-proclaimed optimist and aspires to help people tap into their full potential and live their best lives, happy healthy and productive. Sonya is an active member of her community in advocating for Men’s Mental Health and completed her Mental Health First Aid Certificate with Remedy First Aid.
Sonya understands the juggle of parenting and careers in leadership and being in all cases the only woman in the boardroom. Now her children are young adults in their 20’s and as a step parent understands different family dynamics.
Originally from New Zealand she had a great start in life, experiencing an early childhood curriculum that acknowledged and celebrated her indigenous heritage.
Sonya now calls Australia home and follows the Essendon Bombers who she tells me are on an exciting path, without further or do let’s kick of the HR Summit…
